What began as a friendship-fueled leap into DJing, has evolved into something extraordinary. Inspired by the electric energy of events like Furrality in VRChat, Emerald dove headfirst into virtual worlds, eventually discovering Somnium Space. A personal tour from CEO Artur on day one sealed the deal, turning initial skepticism into pure excitement.
Since then, Emerald’s high-energy sets in Somnium have drawn dancers from across the globe, blending chill vibes with intense, uplifting drops that get crowds rocking. The supportive community, generous Tip Jar feature, and seamless ways to connect have not only brought him back from a DJing hiatus but also made it possible to turn his passion into real-world support.
Ahead of his ambitious 24-hour live marathon on January 31st, packed with casual hangs, games like golf and bowling, community vibes, and an official Somnium event set, Emerald sat down with the Somnium Times to share his journey, favorite moments, and why VR is the ultimate playground for DJs and ravers alike.

Somnium Times: Can you walk us through how you started DJing? Was there a particular moment or influence that sparked your interest in music and performing?
DJ Emerald: I started to DJ because my good friend xytekx – when i joined him and his community – we became close friends. From there I asked him how to get into DJing. Sooner then later I bought my 1st Controller, the Numark Party Mix. And from there I just started playing music, learning how to remix and do simple but effective transitions. He was there for me when I started and teaching me his ways of DJing. From there some people heard the music I was performing in random discord VC’s and I started to get booked for online gigs in virtual environments. From there it sparked my creativity to perform and now I run my own events!
Somnium Times: What inspired your to start performing in VR environments?
DJ Emerald: The thing that inspired me the most was seeing how much fun everyone was having. I wanted to join in. What got me into the VR DJing scene was the virtual event Furrality on the game VRCHAT. In that event there was a 24hr DJ. Seeing all the performers, the different types of music, everyone dancing – it just exited me so much that from there I knew this was going to be something I want to do.
Somnium Times: We’re excited to have you in Somnium Space! How did you first discover Somnium?
DJ Emerald: I discovered Somnium on x (formerly twitter). When I first saw it I was a bit skeptical, but I decided to give the game a try. I was blown away by all the cool features and things that you can do on the game. On the day I joined I met the CEO Artur and he showed me around his game. From there I was really excited to play the game more.

Somnium Times: You’ve been DJing in Somnium Space a few times recently. What has your experience been like so far? What do you love most about it?
DJ Emerald: DJing on Somnium Space has been the best DJing experience yet! Everyone in the community coming on, dancing to the tunes and enjoying the vibe, is amazing. At the time I started I was on a break from DJing because I thought people weren’t enjoying my sets. This game has reignited my fire to DJ and to have fun. What I love most about it is just how everyone is supporting each other. The in game Tip Jar is an amazing part of it, allowing supporting creators for their work!
Somnium Times: Can you share some highlights? How have the audiences responded to your uplifting, high-paced sets?
DJ Emerald: I love it when I go from a chill start and everyone is slow dancing and chilling to going right into the deep end and start playing more high paced music and seeing everyone get super excited and start rocking out to the music. My favorite highlight though is when I did my first set and seeing everyone welcoming me to the game. It will always be my favorite moment

Somnium Times: What do you think of the Tip Jar feature?
DJ Emerald: The Tip Jar is an amazing part of the game. From the Tip Jar and DJing in this game I am able to support my self outside of the game and afford groceries and some treats that i wouldn’t normally be able to.
Somnium Times: What advice would you give to other DJs or creators who are looking to make the jump to VR?
DJ Emerald: DO IT! Going into VR to DJ was the best decision I ever made. From it I am able to entertain people all over the world and being able to talk to people I wouldn’t normally talk to. VR is an amazing way to meet new and interesting people. So to the DJs or ravers who are reading this…give VR a shot, you won’t regret it!
Somnium Times: You’re planning an amazing 24-hour live event on the 31st. What can fans expect from this marathon session? What are you most excited about? And how can people join or support you during it?
DJ Emerald: They can expect a lot of things. From chilling with the community in base reality to playing games like golf, bowling or even annihilator. Also some DJing will be happening. And in the 24hrs I’ll be DJing for an official Somnium Space event. Though the thing I am most excited for is the tour of the oldest parcels by the CEO (Artur) himself! During the 24hrs anyone is free to join me in the game and hang out and be apart of the 24hrs!
