VRChat content creator Itz Soph has stepped into Somnium Space – and she’s made quite the entrance. She uploaded a sleek, ultra-modern apartment into a free WORLD and entered it into the monthly Somnium Space WORLD-Building Competition for April… and snagged 2nd place! With that she won $150. Not bad for a first upload to Somnium.
It’s definitely worth checking out her space and experiencing the apartment for yourself. We had a look and loved what we saw! We also connected with the creator herself to have a chat with her about her creative process.

Recognizing the importance of community engagement, Somnium Space launched a Monthly World-Building Competition. This initiative not only incentivizes creativity with cash prizes but also highlights the best creations across the platform’s social channels. This competition serves as both an inspiration and a proving ground for aspiring creators, showcasing the limitless potential of the platform. Those who excel in world-building will not only gain recognition but will also find themselves at the forefront of a rapidly growing digital economy. Follow Somnium Space’s X account for updates, entry form, winner announcements and more!
We’ve got to say, the apartment is pretty slick! Let’s break it down.

First off, the vibe is super cozy yet upscale. The moment you step in, you’re greeted by this warm, ambient lighting—those ceiling lights with the circular design are such a nice touch, and the underlighting on the counters and shelves gives it a futuristic feel. The living room is the star of the show, with a big, comfy sectional sofa that’s perfect for chilling. The TV setup is awesome too, with surround sound speakers that make you feel like you’re in a mini theater.

The open layout is great—it flows seamlessly from the living area to the kitchen counter, which has this sleek, modern look with a laptop casually sitting there. It’s the kind of space where you can imagine hanging out with friends, maybe streaming a game or just chatting. The big windows are a huge plus, letting in a stunning view of the city skyline at night. It really makes the place feel alive, even in a virtual world.
The bathroom is another highlight—super minimalist and spa-like. That freestanding tub looks so inviting, and the double sinks with those backlit mirrors scream luxury. The lighting in there is soft but functional, and the whole space feels clean and serene.

You can tell a lot of thought went into the design. The mix of wood tones and neutral colors keeps everything looking sophisticated without being over the top.
If we had to nitpick, we’d say the space could use a bit more personality – maybe some art or plants to make it feel more lived-in. But overall, this apartment is a total gem in Somnium Space. It’s perfect for anyone looking for a stylish, modern spot to hang out in VR. We’d definitely give it a solid 8.5 out of 10 – great for relaxing or hosting virtual get-togethers! What do you think?

INTERVIEW: Itz Soph on World Building, Somnium Space, and Staying Creative
We recently sat down with Itz Soph to have a cosy chat about her work. From her roots in VRChat to designing immersive, cozy environments, Itz Soph shared insights about her creative journey, challenges faced, and advice for fellow creators.
Somnium Times: Hey Soph! Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how you got started with virtual world creation?
Itz Soph: Hey, I’m Itz Soph! I joined Somnium VR in early April this year, but my journey as a world developer has been ongoing for five years. I started out creating worlds on a game called VRChat and have been branching out ever since!
Somnium Times: What inspired your recent creation, Modern Apartment, and how did that project evolve?
Itz Soph: When I began developing Modern Apartment, progress was slow at first. Figuring out the colour palette and tones and keeping everything consistent was a real challenge. That project was one of my earlier designs, and since then, I’ve explored a lot more in terms of style and creativity. I turned to Pinterest for inspiration and did a lot of research on floorplans. I ended up loving the warm, wooden, cozy apartment aesthetic and that’s what I built the design around. Modern Apartment is meant to be a place where people can feel like they have their own virtual home.
Somnium Times: What advice would you give to creators who are just starting out?
Itz Soph: If I had to give advice to anyone starting out with world creation, I’d say start simple. Trying to do too much too fast can get overwhelming. Focus on the basics first—it’s always easier to add than it is to take things away. Always ask for feedback. It can feel scary, but when you’ve been staring at your own project for too long, it’s easy to lose perspective. Feedback can really help take your work to the next level. I got some while working on Modern Apartment and it helped me a lot! And finally, don’t give up. In the beginning, it’s so easy to fall into self-doubt and feel like you’re not good enough. But keep going! Eventually, you’ll look back and be proud of how far you’ve come.
Somnium Times: Where can people follow your journey and see more of your work?
Itz Soph: If you’d like to follow my journey, I have a Discord for world enthusiasts: discord.gg/sophsworld
Itz Soph’s Modern Apartment is live in Somnium Space now, a perfect example of how personal vision, persistence, and community support come together in the metaverse. Stay tuned—this is just the beginning for her in Somnium.
