The latest Somnium Space Map serves as an excellent means to explore the richness of the Somnium Space platform. Although primarily VR-focused, Somnium also caters to users through Desktop (2D) and Web modes, the latter being particularly easy to access. Accessible from any device with a web browser, it provides effortless entry for users from any location.
I love exploring experiences using the map and with the beginning of a new day, my spirit was curious with the thought of adventure, so I embarked on yet another journey into the Metaverse. Using the map, I landed on parcel 3625, a towering glass build and in it’s transparency allowing me to see the marvels of grandiose art pieces that beckoned to be explored.
The featured construction is Space 55 Metaverse, crafted by AN JongHyun, an artist and artistic director residing in Seoul, and also the director of the NFT Energy Project. NFT Energy regularly hosts group and solo exhibitions each season. The underlying concept behind NFT Energy is to perceive the current NFT art movement not merely as an artistic or cultural phenomenon, but as an integral part of evolving contemporary times. The NFT Energy exhibition serves as a platform to exhibit artworks and conduct interviews with artists who are leading innovative initiatives or possess the potential to do so on a global scale.
Amazing artworks by Andrei in Somnium Space
In Somnium Space you can see the virtual version of the Andrei Solo Exhibition, which ran in November 2023 at Space 55 in Seoul.
Andrei (United Kingdom) is an animation director and recognized artist in the VFX industry, having worked on projects as diverse as X-Men and Harry Potter. His work shows an imaginative worldview of technology and mythological transcendent beings and space-time. The space-time shown in his work seems to visualize a metaverse, meaning a transcendent universe. The transcendent beings in his work may be a metaphor for the new information and algorithms we will face as technology advances.
Each art piece within this virtual sanctuary is a testament to boundless creativity, seamlessly blending whimsical futurism with echoes of Renaissance opulence. A nod to majestic oil paintings reminiscent of centuries past, every creation held a narrative that sparked intrigue and wonder within me. It was as if each work of art possessed its own language, speaking to the soul of any who dared to gaze upon them.
Stepping into the gallery, I was enveloped by a symphony of visual storytelling, where every piece unfolded a tale both from without and within. The transparent glass design of the structure allowed for a seamless transition from exterior admiration to intimate exploration, each perspective offering a new layer of meaning and depth to the artistry within. A look on the outside was entirely different than the inside, and some pieces were both visible from the inside and outside! It was a captivating dance of light and shadow, difference and the same, a symphony of form and substance that transported me into realms of boundless imagination.
Among the myriad of masterpieces, one particular artwork stood out with an ethereal allure. An angelic figure, cloaked in resplendent gold with locks of blonde crowning her head, exuded an aura of enigmatic wisdom as if she held the very secrets of the universe within her grasp.
Another work which caught my attention, was an intrepid astronaut who gazed outwards, a beacon of curiosity and adventure amidst the tranquil beauty of the gallery.
Yet, amidst the myriad of wonders, it was a singular piece that seized my heart with its enigmatic allure. A figure suspended in mid-air, clad in flowing white garments with arms outstretched from East to West, stood against a backdrop of an eclipsed sun. Was this mysterious human enthroned in mid-air or symbolic of the crucifix? At his feet lay what appeared to be two people, their forms obscured in the shadow of his presence. It was a mystery! It demanded reverence, a tapestry of symbolism that stirred emotions beyond mere comprehension.
In that moment of awe and contemplation, I felt a profound connection to the artistic vision that enveloped me.
This parcel was as if the boundaries of reality dissolved, leaving only myself and the transcendent beauty that surrounded me. Parcel 3625, Space 55 Metaverse, had not only satisfied my thirst for discovery but had also ignited a flame of artistic inspiration within me, a testament to the boundless potential of creativity within the digital realm.
