Somnium Space, where avatars glide through neon-lit worlds and full-body tracking turns every sway into pure expression, one passionate dancer is turning virtual reality into a shared rhythm of joy, fitness, and connection.
Meet Zyg0, the VR veteran whose journey from HTC Vive dance floors in 2019 to hosting choreographed dance classes in Somnium Space embodies the magic of virtual movement. What began as spontaneous grooves has blossomed into a welcoming community hub, where newcomers and veterans alike laugh off missteps, sweat through cardio beats, and find unexpected upliftment in motion.
In this exclusive Somnium Times interview, Zyg0 opens up about the “wow” factor that first hooked him, the power of just being yourself on the dance floor (no matter your age, setup, or timezone), the healing endorphins of group movement, and his dream of a massive, crowd-synchronized rave that gets every avatar in Somnium moving as one.
Event: Dance Class + Fitness with Zyg0 – Hosted by Zyg0 & Meloz – Date/Time: March 22, 2026 11:00 PM CET – Where: Somnium Space
Whether you’re a shy desktop user dipping your toes in, a full-body tracker ready to groove, or simply someone craving connection beyond the screen, Zyg0’s classes prove that in VR, dancing isn’t just fun. It’s a way to build community, boost health, and rediscover the pure thrill of moving together.

Somnium Times: How did you learn about Somnium Space, and what draws you to start hosting dance class events there?
Zygo: A couple of years ago, Meloz introduced me to the Somnium VR experience itself. The innovation and the overall “wow” factor really drew me in, and the rapid pace of development from the team keeps me coming back to see the new quality-of-life features they continue to add.
I’ve always loved dancing, and making other people happy while dancing is what inspired me to start bringing dance events into Somnium Space.

Somnium Times: You love to dance and have fun in VR. Can you share more about your overall journey into VR worlds, and how that “fun” philosophy shapes what you do? Can you share a few words about your setup as well? (headset, trackers, etc.)

Zygo: I started playing VRChat back in 2019 with an HTC Vive. I quickly fell in love with the VR space and the freedom it gives people to connect and express themselves.
I’ve always loved music and concerts, and the ability to recreate those kinds of experiences in VR is what really hooked me. Eventually I bought full body tracking specifically so I could dance. I ended up dancing so much that my friend group slowly filled with other dancers, which eventually led me to creating a dance group.
Three years later I’m still hosting dance events and bringing people together through music and movement. These days I’m using a Bigscreen Beyond headset with Vive Tracker 2.0 full body tracking.
Somnium Times: We’re excited to learn you will start hosting dance classes in Somnium, using choreographed YouTube videos that everyone follows along to. What inspired you to start these classes, and how do you choose the videos or themes each time?
I’ve had participants from all kinds of backgrounds. Some of my dancers are over 60 years old, some are desktop users, some use full body tracking.

Zygo: Honestly, I just started dancing, and other people started joining in. I don’t really promote my classes heavily. My students tend to invite their friends, and the group has grown naturally that way.
My main focus is creating a fun, safe environment where people can move, laugh, and get a bit of exercise at the same time. I realized that I wasn’t always getting the exercise I wanted during the week, and I didn’t want to reduce the time I spend in VR, so I decided to combine the two. Dancing twice a week is actually a great cardio workout.
As for the music and choreography, I usually pick songs based on the mood or energy I’m feeling that day. I like to keep it spontaneous and fun.
Somnium Times: Promoting fitness while creating a fun, inviting community is a big part of your classes, especially for people who might feel shy dancing with others. What tips or approaches do you use to help participants overcome that shyness and feel safe and free?
Zygo: I’ve had participants from all kinds of backgrounds. Some of my dancers are over 60 years old, some are desktop users, some use full body tracking, and I’ve even had amputees join classes, sometimes dancing at 2 AM because of their time zone.
My biggest message to people is simple: just be yourself and try your best. Everyone in the class is learning and trying to keep up with the moves together, so nobody is alone in that feeling. Once people realize everyone else is also figuring it out, the pressure disappears and it becomes fun.
Somnium Times: Have there been any memorable moments or feedback from attendees in your dance classes? How has the community grown or evolved since you started?
Zygo: Some people have told me that the classes helped them through difficult or dark periods in their lives. Hearing that means a lot to me.
The positivity from the community and the endorphins you get from dancing and working out can be really powerful. Many people come initially just to dance, but the ones who stay are often people who want to improve themselves and be part of something positive.
Somnium Times: Photography seems to be a passion of yours. Do you have plans for photography-focused events, or ways to combine it with your dance classes?
Zygo: I’ve hosted photography events in Somnium before, and they were a lot of fun. It was a great way to meet people in the community while exploring different worlds together.
Once I upgrade my computer, I’d also like to start recording some of the dance classes and turning them into short videos if my students are interested. I just need to find the time to edit everything.
Somnium Times: How do you see your presence in Somnium evolving over the next few months? Maybe new class formats, collaborations, or other events?
Zygo: I expect the dance classes to become more regular over time. Right now they’re occasional, but ideally I’d like to grow them to twice a month or maybe even more.
Health and movement are everyday things, and I think once a month just isn’t enough.
Somnium Times: What role do you think community-driven activities like yours play in making Somnium a welcoming space for newcomers?
Zygo: Community events are one of the best ways for both newcomers and long-time players to make friends and build relationships.
When people share experiences and common interests like music, dancing, or exploring worlds, it naturally brings people together and helps everyone enjoy their time in Somnium even more.
Somnium Times: If you could dream big, what’s one feature or event you’d love to see (or create) in Somnium to enhance fitness, creativity, or social connections?
Zygo: I’d love to see a large-scale rave or concert event in Somnium, something where the focus is on everyone dancing together rather than just standing around socializing.
A big shared music experience where the entire crowd is moving and participating would be incredible.
Somnium Times: Finally, if people want to follow you, where can they go?
Zygo: You can find all of my links here: https://linktr.ee/zygovr
Awesome. Thank you Zyg0 for this interview!
As Zyg0 continues to evolve his events, aiming for more regular classes, potential video recordings, and even bigger collaborative vibes, the beat in Somnium Space keeps getting stronger.
Step into the rhythm, drop your inhibitions, and let the music move you. The dance floor is waiting. See you there!
