In a thrilling development, Somnium Space has officially unveiled the Somnium Academy – a dedicated program designed to equip aspiring creators with the skills to build immersive virtual worlds, avatars and wearables. The academy promises hands-on training in industry-standard tools like Blender and Unity, led by some of the most talented figures in the VR space.

This creation earned her the top prize in August’s Somnium Space World Building Competition, showcasing her ability to blend functionality with aesthetic appeal in the metaverse. Prior to that, she made waves by uploading an ultra-modern apartment, demonstrating how accessible tools can yield professional-grade results.
ItzSoph’s role as head instructor ensures that academy participants will benefit from real-world experience and personalized guidance, making software like Blender, Substance Painter, and Unity (including the Somnium Unity SDK) approachable for all skill levels.
What to Expect from the Somnium Academy Program
The Somnium Academy is structured as a one-month intensive course, focusing on the full pipeline of VR creation. Participants will dive into asset design for worlds, avatars, and wearables using Blender and Substance Painter, then learn to integrate these elements into Somnium Space via the Unity SDK. By the program’s end, each student has created and uploaded their own immersive world, a custom avatar, and a unique Somnium wearable.
To qualify for the $100 graduation incentive, students must maintain consistent attendance and deliver work of acceptable quality. You really do not have to create masterpieces. Simply show up, put in the effort and give it your best!
