Somnium Space V3.0.6 has landed, bringing a wave of enhancements that refine gameplay, boost creativity, and smooth out some previous issues.
Somnium Space Launcher
Starting with the Launcher – your one stop entry into the realm of Somnium – Somnium Space has made some cool enhancements. For one, the addition of a dedicated Events app within the Social hub transforms how users discover and join happenings, from virtual concerts to meetups, ensuring the metaverse is alive and buzzing with activity. Now all events are located in one place and you can add your own events too (even NSFW, just sayin’).

There’s other things too, small touches that make the overall experience more modern and user-friendly. From a new gender selection option during signup, to effects highlighting ongoing events and active worlds. Even the desktop experience feels a bit more polished, thanks to a dynamic tray icon that seamlessly adapts to your system’s theme.
Somnium SDK
For creators wielding the SDK, this update delivers tools that streamline the magic behind the scenes. The Scripting tool jumps to version 1.0.4, featuring upgraded logs generation, smoother SDK interactions, and improved error handling, empowering creators to debug and iterate faster without frustration.
A new popup in the Welcome window now notifies users if no original examples are available for scene creation, guiding them toward productive starts and reducing roadblocks in the creative flow.
VR Client
The VR Client is where the excitement truly ramps up, with a suite of new features and fixes that elevate immersion to new heights. A new deep links system – connected to Worlds and Users – makes navigation across users and worlds effortless. Seeing a blue – hyperlinked – name? Click it and you jump right to it. You can even share Worlds via the integrated social/chat system. This makes discovering amazing experiences and sharing them with your friends so much easier.

And then we have Somnium Items, which are Somnium Space-created starter items or wearables, allowing anyone to start experimenting with wearables right away. Simply start the Inventory app on your in-world tablet and select “Somnium” in the drop-down in the upper right corner. It lowers the barrier to anyone who wants to try out wearables, but does not have the Cubes nor the skills (yet) to upload their own.
A really cool new feature is Poses, allowing for expressive avatar animations and poses. For those of us not owning full body tracking (FBT), that’s a really welcome addition. You can now sit down, lie down, whatever you like.

There are also new Welcome boards to be found, which provide a friendly onboarding touch, helping novices feel at home amid the vast possibilities of Somnium Space.
You can’t have such an amazing platform without a few glitches too obviously. But Somnium is fixing them. Interactions have been tuned for that buttery-smooth feel VR enthusiasts crave. Hand stabilization reduces jitter when gripping objects, making virtual manipulation more natural and less distracting. New build-in hand colliders let players push buttons and objects realistically, while the teleport laser now only appears where it is available, avoiding confusion.
Also, exiting free camera in third-person mode is now a breeze with the B button on your left controller. In addition, a handy little fix is that the hand teleport wisely pauses when interacting with UIs to prevent accidental jumps (which has happened a lot to us!).
Full Body Tracking
Full Body Tracking aficionados will be thrilled FBT works really well now, with targeted fixes addressing real-world-to-virtual sync issues. Head rotations align properly, and you can now sit and lie down with proper syncing.
Somnium Space now also supports Hybrid Tracking. Really cool for those using HTC Vive or Tundra tracker on their headset, and keeping their FBT in sync.
Even More Enhancements
Rounding out the update are myriad quality-of-life improvements that touch on social and technical aspects. You can now tip users via the Tip Jar without needing to enter Inspector mode, microphone ranges expand with a close-proximity boost for intimate chats, and world transitions speed up for seamless exploration. And again, city center looks better, brighter, more polished.
Final Words
This update builds on the momentum from V3.0.5’s improvements and SDK enhancements, showing Somnium’s rapid iteration cycle. Whether you’re tipping creators in USD based on features introduced in prior updates or striking a pose in this one, Somnium Space is cementing its place as a Social VR frontrunner.
With V3.0.6, Somnium Space isn’t just updating – it’s inviting you to redefine what’s possible in VR. If you haven’t logged in yet, now’s the time to strap on your headset and join the evolution. The metaverse awaits, more vibrant and connected than ever!
