On February 22nd, 9:00 pm CET, the final event of Educators in VR 2020 was held in the auditorium in Somnium Space. It was streamed live on Twitter and YouTube, but more significantly a connection was established between the stage in Somnium and a virtual hangout in AltspaceVR. Artur Sychov, founder and CEO of Somnium Space, along with a group of Somnium Space members, danced, clapped and cheered for the audience in AltspaceVR.
Artur, who also spoke at the event, explains: “We are making VR history. And what happened tonight will be replayed forever and be seen as the dawn of the true Metaverse.”
After the connection with AltspaceVR was terminated, the event continued with music, speeches and a tour of Somnium Space.

The event was the conclusion of 2020 International Summit ‘Educators in VR’ that was held from February 17-22. It was a free, open-to-the public, virtual event lasting 6 days with a diverse range of over 150 speakers and presentations. Topics covered included, but were not limited to:
- Research into Spatial Technologies in Education
- Corporate Uses for Training and Education
- Coaching and Personal Development
- Corporate Use Examples and Cases
- Developers and Creators of Immersive Apps and Technology
