Series A Funding round led by Somnium Space and Artur Sychov – founder and CEO of Somnium Space – joins the board of directors of the company.
Yesterday – in a Medium post – Somnium Space announced that they led a 4M$ Series A round at Lynx, the developer of a full featured Mixed Reality headset. The funding round was followed by early supporters of Lynx, with participation of other investors involved in the AR/VR field such as ex-Meta and Google engineers.
At Somnium Space we truly believe in the future of open and decentralized Metaverse which empowers its users. This includes, not only software, but also very importantly hardware. As Artur points out, Somnium Space believes in a an open and decentralized Metaverse. During his presentations at the Somnium Connect Conference in Prague last year, it became clear he strongly believes this can only be achieved if we have alternatives in the hardware market, as the Big Tech companies currently maintain closed ecosystems and aim at locking users into their visions and monetization models.
Stan Larroque, creator of Lynx was there, in Prague, and now the news is out that the cooperation between Somnium Space and Lynx is deepening, with Artur Sychov even joining the board of directors at Lynx.
We have this opportunity right here to create the European Champion of Mixed Reality with our work at Lynx, supported by a vibrant community of users and developers desperate to see alternatives to Big Tech companies products and their closed ecosystems. What’s the point of creating a European Metaverse if the underlying platform, the door we use to access it, remains in the hands of the same big players with their damaging business models?
