On September 7th, 2022, the first ever live mixed reality fashion show was held in Prague and Somnium Space.
A big screen behind a small stage and catwalk, a small audience on either side. If you hadn’t given it a closer look, you’d perhaps think this was some private, run of the mill fashion show for designers. It couldn’t be further from the truth.
It may have been small in setting, but it was huge in terms of significance, as it marked the beginning of a new era for how fashion is used and experienced in a new layered reality, where the physical and virtual blend seamlessly.

The Technology
The show offered a unique display of the technical possibilities. It was the first of its kind, utilizing technologies like Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, Full Body Tracking, Holograms and more. Models were wearing teslasuits during the physical event while also appearing live in VR in a newly built Fashion World, based on the revolutionary Somnium WORLD NFTs.
All these moving parts were coming together in a very smooth event where both physical fashion and virtual fashion could be experienced.
As human kind will project itself more and more into the digital realm – and especially the Metaverse – self expression through digital fashion is a logical extension of how we perceive and use fashion in our physical world. Many brands and people understand this, especially Isac Gindi, co-owner of Century21 and founder of virtual development company ISG. He is a driving force and visionary and already today you can visit his amazing experiences in Somnium Space.
The Partners
That this was not just some private Somnium party was also reflected in the range of physical luxury and digital-native fashion and accessory brands that had partnered up.
