Grand Opening: Virtual Performing Arts District Concert Series in Somnium Space

Something big is brewing in Somnium Space. The brand new Sky City Concert Hall will frame the very first performance in what is dubbed the Virtual Performing Arts District (VPAD) concert series. Live performance by the well-know Anj.

Anyone who has visited Djembe Dragonfire’s music venue in Somnium Space knows how immersive and utterly entertaining the live music performances are in VR. Now, with a totally revamped venue and a new performance concept – virtualperforming.org – Djembe is providing an entirely new and open platform for artists to perform in virtual reality.

The Maiden Concert

The first concert in the Virtual Performing Arts District concert series will be held on July 21st, 22:00 CET / 4:00 PM EDT on parcel #476.

The performer will be the one and only Anj, who has performed for an enthusiastic audience in Somnium Space before.

About Anj

Keyboardist/guitarist/flautist/vocalist Andrew ‘Anj’ Deal has been performing in RL for many years. He has toured the USA, Japan and Korea in cover bands since the late 1980’s and now, with the aid of some computer sequencers, loopers and a literal host of hardware synthesizers, brings a collection of his original tunes and songs that he likes into the VR platforms in hopes of finding others who also enjoy the same sort of popular, though slightly eclectic, tastes as he does. Musical styles include alternative, pop and progressive rock with a definite electronica influence. At a typical Anj performance, one just might hear songs by artists such as Pink Floyd, Billy Idol, The Beatles, Coldplay, STP, Collective Soul, Radiohead, Emerson, Lake and Palmer, Willie Porter, Jethro Tull, Matchbox 20, Sting…. etc. Plus a few original songs thrown in for good measure. There is sure to be a little something for everyone.

Sky City Concert Hall

The Sky City Concert Hall is a larger sized venue, with a large abstract stage, and an expansive audience area. Great for professional performances of music, theatre, and dance! Stunning and beautiful in detail, it offers a stunning city night time view, with a slow rotation to make the club appear to be rotating ever so slowly. A free form balcony is in the back for a higher perspective, with a beautiful classy full bar beneath. Immaculate attention to detail, this original designed venue is a stunning sight and worth visiting.

How to join?

For the ultimate experience, use a VR headset, immerse yourself in Somnium Space and head over to parcel 476. You can jump to a nearby teleportation hub or go for a nice walk from Somnium Waypoint. In that case, make sure to join a little bit ahead of time as the walk over to the parcel as it is about 3km south-east of Somnium Waypoint (city center).
